NEW HOME AGENT Mrs. Essa D. Shaw The new home demonstration agent for Polk County is Mrs. Essa D. Shaw, former home agent in Franklin County, who will take up her duties here on Sept. 1. Mrs. Shaw is a native of An drews, S. C., and was educated at the University of Florida and Florida Southern College. She served with the Florida Extension Service several years before com ing to North Carolina. She was acting home agent in Wilkes Coun ty for some time before going to Franklin County in 1947. She will make her home at the Avant apartment on Melrose Avenue in Tryon. She has two grown chil dren: a son, Robert C. Shaw, of Winston-Salem, and daughter, Mrs. A. R. Dayson, Gary, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Bittner and children, Richard and Marcia of Ridgefield, Conn., will arrive in Tryon Saturday for a visit with Mrs. Bittner’s mother, Mrs. C. A. Lincoln. Ranson Nanney has returned to St. Petersburg, Fla., after a visit with Mr. and Mrs. C. V. Elliott and other relatives in Polk County. Russel] Henson, 14, Dies James Russell Henson, 14-^ear old son of Mr. and Mrs. Mlrgil Henson of Tryon, died at 6^0 at St. Luke’s Hospital Thursday morning from injuries received when he jumped from a moving truck at his home at the State line. He fell under the truck driv en by his brother. Funeral services will be held Friday at 4 p. m., at Fairview Baptist Church near Landrum. Burial will be in the church ceme tery. The Rev. W. B. Belue, pas tor and the Rev. Henry O. Hearn of Tryon, will officiate. The body will be at McFar;and’s Funeral Home until 3 p. m., Friday. Besides his.parents, young Hen son is survived by three brothers, John Earle, Virgil Mac and Fur man Andy Henson; also one sis ter, Mary Jane Henson. HOSPITAL NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Ned Littlefield are parents of a son born Aug. 27, at 2:17 a. m. Russell Henson, 14, died at 6:25 a. m., Thursday following treatment for injuries received when a truck ran over him. Patients discharged include Mrs. E. M, Raines, Mill Spting, Donnie King, Edward Lee Davis of Land rum, and Mrs. Louis Kimbrell. RADIO REPAIRING. I repair all makes of radios at my shop on New Street opposite Texaco Station.
